Raft Evolution drops you onto a raft in the middle of an empty ocean with no towns and no help. Your goal is to stay alive as long as you can: pull in drifting resources with a grappling hook, craft gear, expand the raft and check out the islands you spot on the horizon. It runs free in your desktop browser with no download.

How to Play Raft Evolution

You start in a first-person view with nothing but your fists and a health bar in the top-left corner. Look around the water for anything worth grabbing — the frames show a half-sunken wreck hull, a rock breaking the surface and a distant boat, plus palm-covered islands further out. Selecting the hook with the right mouse button lets you fire the grappling hook at floating chests, boards and other loose resources and haul them in.

Materials go into building. You can craft a workbench, a bed and a bowler hat, unlock further items, and upgrade the raft itself using the crafting menu on Y and your inventory on T. While placing a structure you can rotate it with Q or back out with the right mouse button.

Food comes from fishing and cooking. A day and night cycle runs in the background, so what you do changes with the light, and the mission tracker in the top-right corner gives you objectives to work toward while your health bar ticks down.

Tips

Keep the grappling hook ready — it is how you reach chests, boards and other resources drifting out of arm's reach.
Watch the health percentage in the top-left corner; fishing and cooking are your route to keeping it up.
Rotate a structure with Q before you commit to it, and use right-click to cancel a placement you do not like.
Note the direction of any island or wreck you spot on the horizon — those are the landmarks worth returning to.
Check the missions panel in the top right when you are unsure what to build or unlock next.
