How to Play Pixel World

You look at the world through a first-person crosshair. A yellow wireframe box highlights whichever block you are aiming at, so you always know what a click will hit. Left-click breaks that block, right-click puts a new one in its place. Number keys 1 to 8 pick which block type you are holding, and H opens the full block list if you want something outside the hotbar.

Walking is WASD, with Left Shift to run and C to crouch. Press F to switch into fly mode, then use Q and E to rise and drop — handy for shaping towers and walls from the outside instead of pillaring up. There are extra tools and items to try as you go: L lights a torch, X places a brick, R throws a ball, G throws, T interacts and Y summons a deer.

There is no score to chase in the frames — the goal is whatever you decide to dig out or build up.

Tips

  1. Watch the yellow outline before clicking — it shows exactly which cube you will break or build against.
  2. Dig down a layer and you hit darker stone-speckled blocks; the surface layer is dirt, so mix both for contrast in walls.
  3. Fly mode (F) plus Q and E is the fastest way to check a build from the air or place blocks in mid-air.
  4. Keep your eight favourite materials on the number keys and use H only when you need something new.
  5. Left Shift running saves a lot of time crossing the open ground between build sites.
