How to Play Plants Vs Zombies: Merge Defense
Plants go down on the grass squares to the left of the vine. Each tap or click of the plant button at the bottom costs coins and drops another flower defender; the price and its level are shown right on the button. Zombies walk in from the right with health bars above their heads and take fire from your flowers.
Merging is how you get stronger. Put matching plants together and they combine into a higher level — the frames show a garden growing from Lv.2 fluffballs up through Lv.3, Lv.4, Lv.5 and Lv.6 blooms, each one a different flower with its own look. Coins come in during and after a wave, and a Success screen pays out a bonus before the next round.
Watch the coin counter: a "Not enough coins" message blocks new plants until you earn more. The wave track at the top runs 1 to 5, with the fifth marked BOSS. There's also an Upgrade button on the big purple flower at the base of the vine, plus coin and gem totals and a Shop for spending them.
Tips
- Don't spend every coin the moment you have it — leaving a small buffer lets you place a plant the instant a merge pairs up.
- Keep duplicates of the same level in your row so you always have a merge ready instead of a scattered lineup of odd levels.
