Sun is your currency, shown in the counter at the top left of the screen. Pick a plant card from the column on the left — the cards list their cost, such as 50 or 100 — then click or tap a spot on the grass to place it. Sunflower-style plants drop bright suns onto the ground that you click to add to your total, so early planting decides how much you can afford later.
Zombies walk in from the right edge and your plants attack them automatically; the frames show pea-style shots flying out and a white impact flash when a zombie takes a hit. You can pause with the button beside the sun counter if you need a moment to plan. Before a battle you can look over all 15 plants to compare their sun cost and attack, and the opening level runs a tutorial covering the basic rules.
