Master Chess Multiplayer brings a full game of chess to your browser, with a wooden board, carved 3D-style pieces and three ways to play: online against another person, against the computer, or against a friend taking turns on the same device. The aim is the classic one — trap the enemy king in checkmate. It is free and runs on desktop and mobile with no download.

How to Play Master Chess Multiplayer
Games start from the standard setup, white at the bottom of the board and black at the top. Click or tap the piece you want to move, then click or tap the destination square. In the frames, selecting a piece lights up the squares it can travel to — a pawn on e7 shows its one- and two-square advances highlighted ahead of it — so you can see the legal options before you commit.
Play alternates one move at a time. Pieces move by the normal rules of chess: pawns forward and capturing diagonally, bishops on diagonals, rooks on files and ranks, knights in their L-shape, the queen in any direction and the king one square at a time. Capture by moving onto an occupied square. Keep attacking until the opposing king has no legal escape from check, and the game is won.
Coordinates help you follow the game: rank numbers 1–8 run down both sides of the board and file letters A–H sit along the bottom edge. A stopwatch panel for each side sits at the top and bottom of the screen and counts upward as the game runs.
Tips
- Watch the highlighted squares after you select a piece — they show exactly where that piece may legally go, which is handy for checking knight jumps and pawn double-steps.
- Open with a central pawn move like d4 or e4, as white does in the frames, to claim space and free your bishops and queen.
- Develop knights and bishops before pushing more pawns; pieces stuck on the back rank do nothing to defend your king.
- Before every move, look at what your opponent's last move attacks — captures on the board happen the instant you step onto an occupied square.
- Use the play-against-the-computer mode to practise an opening, then take it online once you are comfortable with it.
