How to Play Reversi Mania
Each turn you place one stone on the board. A placement is only legal if it traps at least one line of your opponent's stones between the piece you just played and another stone of your own - every trapped disc in that line flips over to your colour. The grid starts almost empty, so early moves only turn one or two stones, but as the board fills a single move can swing a whole diagonal.
The game marks your legal squares with small numbers, showing how many enemy stones that move would flip - in the frames those markers run from 1 up to 5. The counters at the top of the screen track how many discs each side currently owns, alongside a match timer, and the header shows whose turn it is. Buttons above the board let you restart, while the pause button sits in the corner. When no more legal moves remain and the board is full, whoever holds the larger stone count wins.
Tips
- The numbers on empty squares tell you the flip count, but the biggest number is not always the best move — a huge flip can hand your opponent an even bigger reply.
- Corner squares can never be flipped back, so taking one gives you a permanent anchor for lines along both edges.
- Be careful about filling the squares next to an empty corner; it often lets the other side claim that corner for free.
- Early on, keeping your stones bunched near the middle limits how many legal squares your opponent has to choose from.
- Watch all eight directions from your intended square — one placement can flip rows, columns and diagonals at the same time.
