How to Play Basketball AllStars
Matches are one-on-one on a single screen, with two hoops, a shot clock ticking down in the middle of the scoreboard and both team badges showing the score. You run with the arrow keys, jump with up, and shoot or steal with X. Arrow down doubles as a block when your opponent is going up and a pump while you hold the ball.
Possession changes fast. Since a slap or block can knock the ball out of your rival's hands, defending is as much a scoring route as attacking — knock the ball free near your basket and go straight up for a dunk. From distance, a well-timed shot counts as a three-pointer.
Watch the circular supershot meter in the top-left corner. Once it's fully charged, press Z to launch a special dunk from wherever you're standing, and it goes in. Score the most points before time expires to take the game and advance in the tournament.
Tips
- Save Z until you're guarded closely — the supershot dunk lands no matter where you stand, so use it when a normal shot would be blocked.
- Hold down arrow when your opponent leaps; a block strips the ball and leaves you a clear run at the hoop.
- Long-range shots score three, so back off past the arc when your rival crowds the paint.
- Keep an eye on the timer under the scoreboard and take the shot rather than dribbling the clock away.
