How to Play Heroes Head Ball

Matches take place on a short pitch with a goal at each end and a scoreboard overhead showing both scores and the countdown. Your character is a single bouncing head with boots — you move left and right, jump, and swing a kick to send the ball flying. Contact with your head works just as well, which is where the goals usually come from.

Because both players are stuck in the same small space, the ball ricochets fast between the two nets. Whoever has the higher score when the timer hits zero takes the match, so a late scramble in front of goal can flip the result. The scoreboard also shows multiplier markers above each side's score.

Before a match you choose a game mode from the start screen — one player against the AI, or two players on the same keyboard — then select one of the ten available characters.

Tips

  1. Jumping into the ball puts your head under it, which sends it higher and further than a ground kick — useful for lobbing the ball over your opponent into the far net.
  2. Stay near the centre line rather than camping in your own goal; from midfield you can reach loose balls first and still drop back.
  3. Watch the countdown on the scoreboard. If you are ahead by a goal late on, keeping the ball in the opponent's half wastes time safely.
  4. In two-player mode, agree on who takes WASD and who takes the arrow keys before kick-off so nobody fumbles the jump key.
