Standard eight-ball rules run the match. The first ball you legally pot decides your group: if a solid drops, solids are yours for the rest of the frame; if a striped ball drops, you shoot stripes. Once your seven are gone, the black 8 is the last ball on the table.
Each shot starts with aiming from the cue ball — the white ball sits on the cloth with a guide line showing the path it will take, so you can line up the contact point before committing. The ball physics are modelled, so cushions, angles and follow-through all matter; a ball that rattles in the jaws of a pocket can leave the table wide open for your opponent.
The side panel keeps track of the balls you have pocketed, and a timer at the top counts the length of the frame. You can play frames against the computer or hand the table over to a friend.
