How to Play Mad Day Special
You drive left to right through a side-scrolling wasteland: cracked orange ground, toppled lamp posts and a skyline of half-wrecked towers behind you. Press Space to jump the gaps and broken slabs in the road, and use X or the Up arrow to launch rockets from the truck's launcher.
Aliens with round helmets and tentacles appear ahead with their own health bars above them, firing back as you close in. Time your rockets so the shot lands before you ram into them. The HUD keeps your vehicle health bar in the top-left with a running coin count beneath it, and a bar across the top shows the truck's progress toward the alien ship at the far end.
Coins and stars float above the road and sit in clusters near crates, mailboxes and rubble — collect them to fund upgrades for your car, weapons, armour and clothing so the next run gets further. Later the game switches you to fighting on foot with a shotgun.
Tips
- Fire rockets early at approaching aliens — their health bar shows how much damage is left before they go down.
- Watch the cracks and dips in the road and jump before the front wheels drop in, otherwise you lose speed.
- Sweep up the coin and star lines hanging above the ground; upgrade money is what makes later runs survivable.
- Keep an eye on the health bar in the top-left — taking repeated laser hits ends the run early.
