How to Play Crash Bandicoot
The first installment of Crash Bandicoot is the simplest one in the series, as Crashâs abilities are simply to walk, jump, and spin. Time your jumps to avoid obstacles, and use Crashâs spin attack to defeat enemies. Collect Wumpa Fruits to gain extra lives!
Tips, Tricks & Strategies
Adjust the Controls
The default controls are quite hard to navigate, especially if youâre not a retro game player. Thankfully, you can change the controls by hovering on the bottom left of the screen. Click on âControls Settingsâ, then press the keyboard controls. Press in the keyboard the control you would like to swap the default with, and then press âUpdateâ when done.
Destroy Crates
Crates are often essential, often containing helpful items like:
- Wumpa Fruit: Collect 100 to earn an extra life!
- Aku Aku: A special mask that shields Crash from enemies.
- Character Token: Collect 3 matching tokens to unlock bonus rounds.
Beware of TNT crates thoughâtheyâll damage Crash and cost you a life!
Unlock Bonus Rounds
Crates marked with a question mark may hold character tokens! These tokens are shaped like faces of Crash Bandicoot characters. Collect 3 of the same tokens to transport Crash to that characterâs bonus round. Tawna tokens are the most common and found in the jungle canopy, while N.Brio and Neo Cortex tokens lead to other challenging bonus rounds.
Patience is Key
Crash Bandicoot features many tricky moving obstacles. Stay patient and donât rushâthereâs no time limit anyway!
Frequently Asked Questions
Are there checkpoints in Crash Bandicoot?
Yes! Crates can also act as checkpoints for Crash. Look out for crates with a âCâ, and destroy them to get a checkpoint. Exiting a bonus round, regardless of outcome, also resets your checkpoint to where the last token was found.
How do I get more lives?
Gather 100 Wumpa Fruits to give Crash an extra life! You can also break crates with an extra life icon (featuring Crashâs face) to instantly gain another life. Bonus rounds also provide opportunities to collect more lives, so make sure to collect those character tokens!
Can I save my game?
Yes, you can save your game by hovering on the bottom left of the screen and then clicking on âSave Stateâ (or Shift +F2). You can save your game to either a local file, the browser storage, or the server. Load your game by pressing âLoad Stateâ (or Shift + F4).
Can I track my stats?
Yes! You can track your stats such as how many Wumpa Fruits youâve collected, how many lives you have left, and even how many character tokens youâve collected by simply clicking âAâ in-game.
