How to Play Shortcut Race 3D!
You steer a stick-figure runner from behind as they sprint along winding walkways. Scattered boards lie on the track — run over them and they pile up on your runner's back as a tall brown stack. Place boards over open water to make a flat bridge, which lets you skip a bend in the path and gain ground on the other racers.
Weight is the trade-off. Carrying boards makes you heavier and slower, while building and using shortcuts helps you move faster, so the skill is deciding when to collect more and when to spend what you have. A position marker at the top of the screen shows where you stand in the race — the frames show a runner climbing from 4th to 1st — and the checkered gate marks the end of the track.
The course also features large circular pads printed with multiplier values such as ×2, ×3 and ×4 that you can run onto.
Tips
- Grab boards when you can see a gap ahead you could bridge, rather than hoarding them — a heavy stack costs you speed.
- Watch for bends in the walkway: laying planks straight across the water cuts the distance rivals have to run.
- Keep an eye on the position indicator at the top of the screen to judge whether you can afford a detour for more boards.
- Drop your boards in a tight line so the bridge stays walkable and you don't slide off into the water.
