How to Play Super Mario Run
Mario runs automatically from left to right across grassy platform worlds, with lava spilling at the edge of the screen behind him. Your only job is timing: a single tap or click makes him jump, so you decide when to clear a pit, hop a ledge or drop onto an enemy to take it out.
Coins float above the ground in rows and arcs, often placed just off the safe path so grabbing them means a riskier jump. The counter in the top-left tracks your total, and coins buy friend masks in the shop. The banner at the top of the screen shows distance travelled, which becomes your run score.
Touching a spike, a saw or an enemy from the wrong angle ends the run. The Game Over board lists your run score, your best score and the coins you collected, with buttons to open the shop or restart, plus a continue option priced at 100 coins.
Tips
- Watch the ground ahead rather than Mario — pits and spike patches appear with little warning at running speed.
- Land on enemies from above to remove them instead of trying to jump over them at the last moment.
- Skip coin clusters that sit over a hazard; distance is your score, and a lost run costs more than a few coins.
- Save coins for masks in the shop, or keep 100 in reserve to use the continue option after a bad end.
- Slopes and stepped platforms change your jump landing point, so start the jump earlier when running uphill.
