How to Play Arras.io

When you enter any game mode, you start off as a basic tank. To level up, fire at or collide with polygons, which are shapes that give you XP. Damaging other players also grants XP but is best attempted after leveling up. Upgrade your stats to enhance combat abilities and health.

Customization

In the upper left of your screen, click the small green arrow to customize your gameplay!

Options: Filter what appears on your screen, such as player names, scores, and chat messages. Toggle the visibility of elements like the mini map, leaderboard, and other players’ health bars. Configure the size of your user interface, toggle auto level-up, and enable incognito mode to hide from the leaderboard and make your score appear low to other players.

Theme: Enhance your gameplay by choosing from various themes, like retro, snow, or coral reef! You can even create your own custom colors and theme.

Keybinds: Customize all keybinds from the menu in the upper left of your screen.

Game Modes

When you enter arras.io, you can set your player name and choose a server (USA, Europe, or Asia). You can also choose from different game modes:

Normal

Free-for-all (FFA): Battle everyone in an open mode.Maze: Navigate through scattered maze walls, making movement and leveling up more challenging.Nexus: Upgrade your tank to the powerful dreadnought exclusive to this mode. However, you need to be at least level 60 to fully enter the area.Team Deathmatch (TDM): Join a team (2-4 teams per game) and engage in a deathmatch, spawning at your team base with friendly fire disabled.Labyrinth: Encounter high-HP and high-XP mutations, or mutant polygons, in this game mode. Teams you up with other players but requires level 90.

Growth

Ideal for leveling up and boosting your stats past level 45. Modes include:Old Dreadnoughts: Enter a wormhole to upgrade into dreadnoughts. Requires level 150.Duos: Team up in pairs for a strategic battle.Open: Randomly spawn anywhere without team bases, similar to FFA.

Arms Race

Features over a thousand tanks and upgraded bosses. Modes include:Magic Maze: Navigate a maze with exclusive relic polygons that grant significant XP.Skinwalkers: Killing a player swaps your tank to theirs, while still keeping your stats.Tag: Players switch teams upon death, aiming to convert everyone to your team.

Other

Assault: Defend team tanks, like sanctuaries and dominators, from attackers, winning by surviving for 8-12 minutes.Siege: Work together to defend against waves of bosses while protecting sanctuaries. Lose if sanctuaries are damaged for 1 minute.Outbreak: Players become zombies after death, but can be revived by Necromancer tanks.Soccer: Push a ball using tank projectiles to score goals. The first team to score 10 goals wins. Mothership: Protect your team’s Mothership tank while destroying the enemies’.

Sandbox

arras.io has a sandbox game mode that lets you experiment with limitless leveling, creating maze walls, and more. Gain operator access automatically if alone, or ask for access from other players. Access the full command list for sandbox by holding ` and pressing ? or F1.

Tanks

Tanks are your damage dealers in arras.io, with over 100 options to explore! You start each game with a Tier 1 basic tank, which you can upgrade as you level up. Tank availability varies by game mode, and each tank features different upgrade tiers, unlocked at specific levels. Each tank has its strengths and weaknesses, so experiment with them to find the best fit for your play style and objectives! You can choose to upgrade your basic tank to Tier 2 tanks like the Twin, Sniper, and Machine Gun once you reach level 15. You can upgrade to Tier 3 once you reach level 30, and Tier 4 once you reach level 45.

Ammunition

Ammunition in arras.io is not just limited to bullets. Tanks can also fire traps and drones!

Bullet: Most tanks fire bullets, which can also take the form of missiles. Missiles propel themselves from certain tanks like the Launcher and Skimmer and fire consecutive bullets. Missiles can vary, from snake missiles with mini cannons or twister missiles that spin.

Trap: Tanks in the Trapper branch fire stationary traps that deal damage upon contact. Some traps, like the Engineer tank’s, come with auto turrets while others like the Boomer tank fire boomerang-type traps.

Drone: Drones can be controlled or uncontrolled, attacking nearby targets. Tanks like Overdrive and Beekeeper fire drones that can travel in swarms, have auto turrets, or convert polygons into drones.

Stats

Enhance your tank further by upgrading its stats. You can get up to 42 upgrade points to distribute across various attributes. Access the stat upgrade window at the bottom left of your screen and allocate points as desired.

Body Damage: Increases the damage your tank deals upon collision.Max Health: Expands your tank’s health pool. Bullet Speed: Increases the speed of your bullets, making them harder to dodge. Bullet Health: determines how much damage a bullet can take before disappearing. Bullet Penetration: Enhances bullet penetration through entities, useful against low-damage targets.Bullet Damage: Boosts the damage dealt by bullets on impact.Reload: Improves the rate of fire of your tank.Movement Speed: Enhances your tank’s movement speed.Shield Regeneration: Reduces the time it takes for your shield and health to regenerate. The damage a tank takes is shared between the shield and tank health. Shield Capacity: Expands your shield’s health pool, acting as an additional layer of protection.

Bosses

In arras.io, bosses are signaled by a notification saying, “A visitor is coming”. These bosses are buffed  in Arms Race game mode. Each boss has unique characteristics–some are fast but have low health, while others are slow but inflict great damage. Each boss has specific weaknesses, and some require multiple players to defeat. With over 29 different types of bosses, caution is key!

Tips, Tricks, & Strategies

Use The Class Tree

Upgrading your tank is crucial for dealing more damage. With many tank types available, it can be overwhelming. Thankfully, there is an upgrade tree that you can access by pressing “T”, where you can see all available tanks and their tier levels. Trace the upgrade path to your desired tank and use the search feature to quickly find specific upgrades.

Increase Your Stats

Hover over the stat upgrade window in the bottom left corner of the screen to access your stat upgrades. You can allocate up to 42 upgrade points to various skills, enhancing your tank’s performance. Choose wisely, as upgrades are permanent and cannot be undone!

Utilize The Autofire and Autospin

You don’t have to be constantly pressing a key to keep firing. Simply press “E” for autofire and “C” for autospin. Through this, you get to easily and effectively cover all directions.

Destroy Polygons First

Focus on destroying polygons to gain XP quickly, as this will help you level up and unlock more powerful tanks. Start with smaller polygons and move to larger ones as you upgrade.

Specialize Your Builds

When upgrading stats, tailor your build to complement your chosen tank and play style. For instance, if your tank is a Destroyer that deals high damage but fires slow bullets, prioritize upgrading bullet speed!
