How to Play Starblast
Starblast is a multiplayer space shooter game where you can upgrade your spacecraft, team up with or battle other players, and collect gems to convert into credits for further upgrades to your ship and weapons.
Ships
Upgrade your ship up to Tier 7 by filling the crystal cargo at your base, indicated by a “Depot” sign. Ships vary in attributes like prolonged combat capability or firepower. Access the full ship tree by pressing the “Escape” key or clicking the upper right corner of your screen.
Secondaries
Secondaries are additional weapons or ammo purchasable with credits (converted from gems). In survival mode, press “W” to access the weapon store. There are three types of secondary weapons: pods, propelled weapons, and mines, with the latter two deployed with “Alt”'.
Pods
Mining Pods: fire with your main weapon but don’t damage other ships.
Attack Pods: fire with your main weapon and do damage to other ships.
Defensive Pods: block incoming shots without blocking your own.
All pods cost 120 credits.
Propelled Weapons
Rockets: fastest propelled weapon and deal 50 damage, cost 100 credits.
Missiles: deal 150 damage with a 1-second arming delay, cost 250 credits.
Torpedoes: slow but deal 500 damage to ships and 1000 to stations, cost 500 credits.
Switch between them by scrolling or pressing “Shift”.
Mines
Space Mines: deal small damage in a small radius, cost 100 credits.
Heavy Mines: deal large damage in a large radius but have a longer arming delay, cost 200 credits.
Upgrades
Convert gems to credit to upgrade your ship. Upgrades enhance your ship’s capabilities and expedite reaching higher tiers. The upgrade bar appears once the minimum requirement is met. Available upgrades include:
Shield Capacity: stronger shield
Shield Regeneration: faster shield regeneration
Energy Capacity: more weapon energy
Energy Regeneration: faster energy recovery
Laser Damage: increases cannon damage (also increases energy cost)
Weapon Speed: faster pulse firing
Ship Speed: higher maximum speed
Ship Agility: improved turning and acceleration. Also increases deceleration, if you have RCS on, or Reaction Control System. When on, the ship automatically brakes when not accelerating, and when off, the ship continues moving in the direction accelerated without stopping.
Game Modes
Choose from four game modes: team mode, survival mode, invasion, and pro deathmatch. You can also customize your ship color (except in team mode) to give it some personalization!
Team Mode
Choose from 3 factions at the start of the game. Afterwards, collect gems to access higher-tier ships and donate them to your base to convert into credits and upgrade the base. Farm gems by destroying meteorites or enemy ships. The goal is to destroy all enemy bases while upgrading your own.
Survival Mode
A free-for-all where you destroy asteroids, collect gems, upgrade your ship, and fight other players. Survive until the Survival Mode period begins, and be the last player standing!
Invasion
Team up with up to six players and fight waves of NPC alien ships. Break asteroids and earn points, rockets, and missiles during the first two minutes of each wave.
Pro Deathmatch
In pro deathmatch, players compete for the most kills. Choose from two random fully upgraded ships, and then spawn in a random location in the area. Larger asteroids are present here, but they don’t spawn any gems. Kill any ship for 1 point, kill your target for 2 points, and score 12 points to win the round. Also, all ships are anonymous and markers are disabled!
Tips, Tricks, & Strategies
Undergo Training
New players can undergo training to learn the basics, such as how to control your ship and use weapons, wherein an NPC will guide you. This can be found at the starting screen at the lower right of your screen.
Collect Gems
Gems are the main currency of Starblast. Collect gems by blasting meteorites or ships to upgrade your ship stats or convert them to credits for purchases.
Destroy Meteorites
Meteorites, or asteroids, are present in every game mode and can be destroyed to earn gems. Beginner players should focus on destroying these first to earn gems for upgrades and weapons.
Utilize The Map
Use the mini-map found on the bottom right of your screen to track enemy positions and team bases, identifying potential threats and opportunities.
