Every level is one screen, so you can see the whole problem before you move. Somewhere in the room sits a golden key; somewhere else stands the lit exit cage, usually behind a padlocked door. Grab the key first, then get to the exit to clear the stage and move on to the next numbered puzzle.
The rooms are full of things that will end your run: rows of ground spikes, spike blocks hanging from the ceiling, burning wall torches and spiked platforms that slide along rails driven by gear wheels. Crates and stone ledges give you footing, and red arrow signs point out the way forward.
