How to Play Hill Climbing
You drive left to right across a side-on hill course. One input accelerates forward, the other drives in reverse, and the trick is choosing how much of each to use as the ground rises and falls. Too much throttle over a crest and the jeep tips back; the reverse input helps you level the nose out again before you land.
The HUD across the bottom shows an RPM dial, a fuel gauge and a boost gauge, so you can watch how hard the engine is working while you drive. Distance in metres ticks up at the top of the screen — 92m, 133m, 236m, 336m and onward as the run continues — and a counter in the top-left corner tracks the coins and stars you pick up along the route.
The scenery scrolls past as you go: barns, ploughed fields, scarecrows, cows, sheep and chickens. Crash and the attempt ends, so the game is about beating your own best distance on the next try.
Tips
- Ease off the throttle just before a crest so the jeep does not launch nose-up into the air.
- Use the reverse input in mid-air to bring the front of the car back down before landing.
- Watch the RPM dial as a quick read of how hard you are pushing the engine on a climb.
- Steady, controlled throttle through the dips keeps the car level better than constant full power.
- Treat every run as a distance attempt — the metre counter at the top is the score to beat.
