How to Play Steve Alex Drive
Each cart is controlled separately: WASD drives the red character, the arrow keys drive the blue one. Beyond going forward and back, those keys also tilt the cart, so part of the job is keeping it level as it drops off a ledge or climbs a slope. Crashing is easy, and the description is blunt about it — be careful.
The levels are built from chunky blocks, with cacti-like green plants, arrow signs pointing the way and stacks of green and yellow blocks along the ground. A coin counter sits at the top of the screen next to pause and restart buttons, and the current level number is printed at the bottom. Collect the red and blue boxes to earn the right to move on to the next level.
Both carts need to arrive, so you can play it solo by switching between the two keyboard halves, or hand one set of keys to a friend and drive side by side.
Tips
- Ease off the forward key before a drop — landing with the cart tilted is how most runs end.
- Move one cart at a time when playing alone, parking the other on flat ground so it doesn't roll.
- Use the restart button in the top corner as soon as a cart flips instead of trying to recover it.
- Follow the arrow signs planted along the terrain when you're unsure which way the level continues.
