How to Play Solitaire The Collection
Start by picking a solitaire from the collection and setting a difficulty, which can range from a gentle deal to a genuinely tough puzzle. Each mode has its own rules: Klondike-style games want foundations built by suit from the ace upward, with tableau piles built downward in alternating colours where the rules call for it. Spider asks you to gather complete same-suit runs and send them off the board. Pyramid is about removing pairs that fit the mode's sum rule, and Memory has you flipping cards to find matching pairs.
The frames show a Spider deal in progress: ten tableau columns of spades, a face-down stock in the lower right, and a run being assembled from queen down through jack, ten and nine. The bar at the bottom holds a deal button, a hint marked with a limited count, and an undo arrow, while the corner counter tracks elapsed time and your move total. Empty columns open up as you clear cards, giving you space to reorganise longer sequences.
Tips
- Keep an eye on the move counter and timer in the corner if you want to beat your own record on a deal.
- In Spider, finish runs in one suit before spreading cards across too many columns — mixed-suit stacks block the cards beneath them.
- Empty columns are your most valuable space; use them to unpack a buried sequence rather than dumping a single high card there.
- Hints are limited in number, so save them for deals where you genuinely cannot find a legal move.
- Undo is right next to the hint button — try a risky move, then step back if it closes off the board.
